Relaxed atmosphere and yummy goodies to taste
I saw the sign the first time when I was cycling around with a friend in Castlefield. I checked on the internet nearer to the time and I found finally some more information about it.
The day started with a bit of rain (surprise surprise in MAN ;-)) but despite the weather – I wanted to see this new market in Castlefield and a bit of rain shouldn’t keep me away from it.
We arrived at the market around 11 am and there were not that many people around and either I could see the fore casted 60 stalls. Maybe some stalls didn’t make it because of the weather or the demonstration held on this day or we simply were too early ;-)!
I truly enjoyed this little market with the varieties of fresh food and apparently award winning and locally-made artisan products. There were stalls selling breads, cheeses, meat, pies, flowers, home and garden items, books, vintage clothes and jewellery and, anything else made by artisans. The food stalls handed out little samples of their delicious products – yummy! And naturally we came back home with bag full of fresh products!
Thanks to Asif and Jodie Farakhan (a husband and wife team, whose vegetarian Indian food has won awards here in the UK as well as in Portugal, where they once owned restaurants) who organized this market after fighting for permission for over 2 years.
This market will be held each month and I will certainly watch out the next date to go back - I loved it and a market like that was much needed here in Manchester!

Gemütliche Atmosphäre und Köstlichkeiten zu geniessen
Ich sah die Werbung das 1. Mal als ich mit einer Freundin in Castlefield mit dem Fahrrad unterwegs war und nach einiger Zeit, habe ich auch noch einige Informationen im Internet gefunden, da das Plaket entfernt wurde.
Der Tag hat mit Regen begonnen (welche Überraschung für Manchester, smile). Jedoch haben wir uns nicht davon abhalten lassen, uns diesen neuen Markt gleich bei uns um die Ecke zu inspizieren.
Wir sind gegen 11 Uhr auf dem Markt gewesen und es waren kaum Leute da und auch waren nicht 60 Martkstände aufgestellt. Vielleicht hat das Wetter viele Leute davon abgehalten zu kommen oder vielleicht war es die Demonstration, welche gleich um die Ecke stattgefunden hatte?
Nichts desto trotz - wir haben es sehr genossen, die lokalen Köstlichkeiten zu testen, einen Schwatz mit den Verkäufern abzuhalten und mit vollgestopften Taschen nach Hause zu gehen. Das Angebot ging von Käse, frischen Broten, knackigem Gemüse über Fleisch und Pasteten, Blumen und Antikquitäten - herrlich!
Ein indisches Ehepaar, Asif und Jodie Farakhan haben diesen Markt auf die Beine gestellt, da in dieser Region nichts dergleichen angeboten wird. Nach fast 2 Jahren haben sie die Genehmigung erhalten und hoffentlich wird dieser Markt jeden 1. Sonntag im Monat durchgeführt.
Ich werde jedenfalls wieder da sein und mich mit all den Köstlichkeiten eindecken!
